Position Overview
The Receptionist role is ideal for candidates looking for administration jobs in Mpumalanga, receptionist vacancies, or entry-level office support roles in the education sector.
You will be the first point of contact for students, staff, and visitors, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment while providing efficient administrative support.
This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Customer Service
- Greet and welcome visitors professionally
- Direct visitors to appropriate departments or staff
- Serve refreshments to clients when required
Switchboard & Communication
- Answer incoming calls and route them correctly
- Take and distribute messages promptly
- Respond to email enquiries professionally
Administrative Support
- Perform general office duties (scanning, photocopying, filing)
- Maintain accurate records, including office expenses
- Assist with accounts-related tasks such as petty cash
Office Management
- Ensure reception area is clean, organised, and presentable
- Coordinate with cleaning staff to maintain office standards
- Order office supplies (stationery, equipment, furniture)
Event & Operational Support
- Assist with planning and coordinating events
- Handle ad hoc administrative requests
- Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Higher Certificate in Office Administration (advantageous)
Experience
- 1–2 years’ experience as a receptionist or administrator
- Experience in a higher education environment (preferred)
- Computer literacy is essential
