Position Overview
The Cashier (Contract) role is ideal for candidates seeking retail jobs in Eastern Cape, entry-level cashier vacancies, or customer service roles in South Africa.
You will be responsible for handling customer transactions, managing cash accurately, and ensuring excellent service at the checkout point.
This is a 6-month contract opportunity, perfect for gaining retail and customer service experience.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Handling & Transactions
- Process cash and card payments accurately
- Count money in cash drawers at the start and end of shifts
- Issue receipts, refunds, and correct change to customers
- Balance transactions and maintain cash records
Customer Service
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Assist customers with enquiries and purchases
- Ensure a positive shopping experience
Store Support Duties
- Bag, box, and wrap merchandise
- Stock shelves and update pricing labels
- Assist with stock counts and inventory control
- Maintain a clean and organised checkout area
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12
Experience & Skills
- Previous cashier experience (advantageous)
- Computer literate
- Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly
- Good customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure
