Position Overview
Rosebank College is seeking a Part-Time Lecturer in IsiXhosa to deliver engaging, structured teaching aligned with curriculum requirements.
The role involves lecturing, academic support, student monitoring, and continuous assessment preparation while ensuring students achieve strong language proficiency outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
🎓 Teaching & Delivery
- Deliver IsiXhosa lectures aligned with module requirements
- Engage students in interactive and outcome-based learning
- Follow module pacing guides and academic frameworks
📚 Academic Assessment
- Prepare students for assessments and evaluations
- Track student performance and participation
- Identify and support at-risk students
🧑🏫 Academic Administration
- Update learning management systems
- Provide academic feedback and progress reports
- Attend academic meetings and faculty engagements
📊 Student Support & Development
- Monitor student engagement and submission performance
- Support continuous improvement of student outcomes
- Maintain academic records and documentation
Requirements
Qualifications
- B.Ed Honours OR Honours degree in IsiXhosa / Humanities / Social Sciences
- Postgraduate Diploma in Education (NQF Level 8)
- Undergraduate qualification must include IsiXhosa as a major (up to 3rd year level)
Experience
- 1–2 years teaching or lecturing experience (Intermediate Phase preferred)
- Higher education teaching experience is an advantage
Key Competencies
- Strong understanding of South African higher education systems
- Ability to support and mentor students effectively
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Digital literacy and LMS experience
- Strong time management and deadline focus
- Ability to adapt in a changing academic environment
