Position Overview
ADvTECH is currently recruiting a Locum Teacher – Creative Arts / Life Orientation for Abbotts High School in Pretoria.
This is a contract teaching role focused on delivering engaging, well-structured lessons that support learners’ academic, emotional, and social development. The successful candidate will create a stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities
Academic Delivery
- Plan, deliver, and assess structured and engaging lessons
- Support learner development across Creative Arts and Life Orientation
- Ensure curriculum goals and academic standards are met
Assessment & Reporting
- Conduct ongoing learner assessments
- Provide accurate academic reporting and feedback
- Track learner progress and performance outcomes
Student Development & Behaviour Management
- Support emotional, social, and intellectual development of learners
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively
- Guide learners in subject choices and personal development
School Representation
- Act as a positive ambassador for the school
- Maintain professional relationships with learners, parents, and colleagues
- Communicate in a respectful and collaborative manner
Administration & Compliance
- Complete administrative and academic records accurately
- Ensure compliance with school policies and procedures
- Support health and safety requirements within the school environment
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Degree (NQF Level 7)
- PGCE or B.Ed (Senior Phase or FET Phase)
- Specialised subject qualification (advantageous for Creative Arts)
Experience
- 2–5 years teaching experience
- 2–5 years subject-specific experience (advantageous)
Additional Requirements
- SACE registration (mandatory)
- Police clearance certificate
- First Aid certification
- Computer and digital literacy
