Position Overview
Dis-Chem is currently looking for a Casual Merchandiser for its Paarl Mall store. This role focuses on maintaining store merchandising standards, ensuring shelves are fully stocked, and delivering excellent customer service.
It is an entry-level opportunity suitable for candidates who are energetic, detail-oriented, and willing to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Stock & Merchandising Duties
- Restock shelves to ensure maximum product availability
- Ensure stock from storeroom is correctly stored and organised
- Maintain FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation
- Check and report expired, damaged, or low stock items
- Assist with stock counts and inventory control
Store Presentation
- Ensure shelves are neat, clean, and fully stocked
- Maintain correct product pricing and labelling
- Build and maintain merchandising displays
- Follow store layout and planogram standards
- Keep front shop and display areas clean and organised
Customer Service
- Assist customers with product queries
- Provide friendly and helpful in-store support
- Resolve stock-related customer queries
- Ensure excellent customer experience at all times
Operational Support
- Assist with unloading and packing stock deliveries
- Support back shopping and stockroom organisation
- Assist in training new staff when required
- Report discrepancies and suspicious activity
Minimum Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Up to 6 months retail experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Willing to work retail hours
Advantageous Requirements
- 1 year retail experience
- FMCG or merchandising knowledge
- Experience with stock reporting systems (ZMORE)
