Position Overview

Dis-Chem is seeking a Dispensary Manager Trainee for its Sefako Makgatho store in Pretoria. This role is designed for qualified pharmacy professionals who are ready to step into leadership within a dispensary environment.

The successful candidate will support the management of dispensary operations, supervise staff, ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, and deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients.

Key Responsibilities

Dispensary Operations & Patient Care

  • Provide pharmaceutical care based on patient medication needs
  • Accurately interpret and process prescriptions
  • Ensure correct dispensing, labelling, and checking of medication
  • Provide patients with correct usage instructions
  • Identify and prevent fraudulent prescription activities

Compliance & Regulatory Control

  • Ensure adherence to South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) rules
  • Maintain compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) standards
  • Ensure POPIA compliance for patient confidentiality
  • Manage Schedule 6 medication safekeeping and registers
  • Ensure all staff operate within legal pharmacy scope

Stock & Inventory Management

  • Manage dispensary stock to reduce shrinkage
  • Monitor expired and short-dated stock
  • Ensure proper disposal of expired medication
  • Oversee stock ordering and compliance
  • Manage stock levels, including dormant and negative stock

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Supervise dispensary staff and ensure effective rostering
  • Authorise work schedules via Kronos system
  • Monitor staff performance and enforce quality standards
  • Promote teamwork and professional conduct
  • Support HR processes and documentation

Customer Service & Support

  • Assist patients at dispensary and self-medication areas
  • Provide clear medical aid cost explanations
  • Ensure excellent customer experience and service delivery
  • Resolve customer queries professionally

Minimum Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • BPharm or equivalent qualification
  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
  • 2–5 years pharmaceutical experience
  • Experience with Unisolv system
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Computer literate (MS Office)

Advantageous Requirements

  • Previous dispensary management experience
  • Strong leadership background in pharmacy operations
