Position Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting a Casual Merchandiser for its Norwood store in Johannesburg. This opportunity is ideal for candidates seeking part-time retail jobs and hands-on experience in merchandising and customer service.
The role focuses on maintaining store standards, ensuring shelves are fully stocked, and delivering excellent customer service while supporting overall store operations.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandising & Stock Management
- Restock merchandise to ensure maximum product availability
- Ensure stock is stored and packed correctly in allocated spaces
- Monitor and remove expired or damaged stock
- Maintain full product ranges on shelves at all times
- Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation
- Assist with stock counting and stocktaking activities
Store Presentation & Compliance
- Ensure shelves are clean, well-organized, and correctly labelled
- Maintain visual merchandising displays according to planograms
- Report price discrepancies and stock issues to management
- Flatten boxes and maintain a clean storeroom environment
- Follow Dis-Chem’s SOPs, policies, and safety regulations
Customer Service
- Assist customers with product queries and stock availability
- Provide friendly, helpful, and professional service
- Resolve customer stock queries and follow up on out-of-stock items
- Maintain a presentable appearance and wear the correct uniform
Operational Support
- Assist with loading and offloading stock
- Support back shopping and replenishment activities
- Help train new staff when required
- Minimise losses by handling stock carefully
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Up to 6 months of retail experience
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Willingness to work flexible retail hours
Advantageous Skills & Experience
- 1+ year retail or merchandising experience
- Knowledge of FMCG merchandising standards
- Product and category knowledge
- Ability to analyze stock reports (e.g., ZMORE)
- Bilingual communication skills

Remuneration
