Position Overview
Kia South Africa is seeking a Qualified Technician to join their Fourways service team. This role is ideal for a skilled automotive professional with strong diagnostic abilities and hands-on mechanical experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out vehicle diagnostics, repair support, fault finding, and ensuring that all vehicles meet manufacturer quality and safety standards before being returned to customers.
This is a fast-paced technical role requiring precision, problem-solving ability, and a strong commitment to “fix right first time” service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Diagnostics & Repairs
- Perform diagnostic work and support mechanics as directed by the Foreman
- Carry out accurate fault diagnosis to speed up servicing processes
- Ensure servicing aligns with manufacturer time targets and standards
- Use manufacturer diagnostic equipment and systems effectively
Quality & Safety Control
- Ensure all vehicles meet safety and quality standards during servicing
- Return vehicles in clean and neat condition after completion of work
- Maintain strict adherence to Occupational Health & Safety procedures
Customer & Team Communication
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers when required
- Provide clear and professional explanations of technical findings
- Work collaboratively with team members across departments
Administration & Reporting
- Complete job cards, service documentation, and required forms accurately
- Draft technical reports when needed
- Ensure all service records are properly maintained
Training & Development
- Complete OEM-required training (online, classroom, and practical)
- Mentor apprentices and assist in evaluating technical performance
- Sign off apprenticeship logbooks where applicable
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in marketing or business campaigns when required
- Perform any additional duties as reasonably assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Qualified Automotive Technician certification
- 3–5 years post-qualification experience (essential)
- Kia dealership or OEM experience (advantageous)
- Valid, unendorsed driver’s licence
- Experience with manufacturer diagnostic tools and systems
- Strong fault-finding and mechanical problem-solving skills
- Ability to complete technical documentation accurately
