Position Overview
Greenwood Bay College is seeking a qualified Geography Teacher (FET Phase) in Plettenberg Bay.
This role involves teaching Geography to high school learners while promoting critical thinking, environmental awareness, and academic excellence in a structured private school setting.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Delivery
- Teach Geography in the FET Phase (Grades 10–12)
- Deliver engaging, future-focused lessons aligned with curriculum standards
- Encourage learners to develop analytical and critical thinking skills
- Integrate modern teaching methods and digital learning tools
Assessment & Reporting
- Conduct continuous learner assessments and evaluations
- Maintain accurate academic records and reports
- Monitor learner progress and provide targeted academic support
- Participate in moderation and assessment processes
Student Development & Classroom Management
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively and professionally
- Support learners academically and emotionally
- Identify students needing additional academic assistance
- Encourage active participation and independent learning
Communication & Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with colleagues, parents, and learners
- Communicate learner progress clearly and professionally
- Collaborate with academic teams to improve outcomes
- Contribute to a positive school culture
Administration & Compliance
- Maintain accurate academic documentation
- Participate in school administrative duties
- Ensure adherence to institutional policies and procedures
Health & Safety
- Supervise learners during school activities
- Ensure a safe learning environment at all times
- Follow health and safety protocols and procedures
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7)
- PGCE or B.Ed (FET Phase) specialising in Geography
- Registered with SACE (South African Council for Educators)
- Police clearance certificate
- 2–5 years teaching experience
- 2–5 years Geography subject teaching experience
- Computer and digital literacy
- First Aid certification
