Technical Trainer Job Overview

The Technical Trainer is responsible for ensuring employees are fully competent in food safety, quality, legal compliance, and operational procedures.

This role involves designing training programmes, delivering workshops, and supporting compliance with ISO and FSSC 22000 standards across multiple baking plants.


Key Responsibilities

Training Needs Analysis

  • Conduct training needs assessments with managers and supervisors
  • Identify skills gaps in safety, quality, and food safety compliance
  • Recommend targeted training solutions aligned with business needs

Training Design & Delivery

  • Develop and update training materials, SOPs, and manuals
  • Deliver induction and refresher training programs
  • Implement blended learning (classroom, e-learning, on-the-job training)
  • Facilitate operational systems training

Compliance & Safety Training

  • Train employees on food safety, occupational health & safety, and transport compliance
  • Support implementation of food safety systems and customer requirements
  • Ensure training records meet audit and legal standards
  • Support ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000 training initiatives

Performance & Evaluation

  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments and feedback
  • Report on training outcomes and improvements
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with HR, operations managers, and supervisors
  • Support leadership development and coaching
  • Liaise with external training providers when needed

Quality & Food Safety (QFS)

  • Assist with customer complaint investigations
  • Conduct internal and inter-site audits (FSSC 22000 & customer requirements)
  • Support non-conformance closure and corrective actions
  • Conduct quarterly mock recalls
  • Participate as a food safety team member
  • Assist with management review reporting

Minimum Requirements

Candidates should have:

  • Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Environmental Health, or Analytical Chemistry
  • 3–5 years’ experience in FMCG or food manufacturing environment
  • Training experience (advantageous)
  • ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000 management experience (advantageous)
  • Strong computer literacy (Excel, Word, Email)
  • Willingness to work across multiple plant environments

Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and ambient conditions
  • Exposure to flour dust environments
  • Exposure to allergens (wheat, gluten, eggs, milk, soya, nuts)
  • Willingness to travel between production plants
