Teacher: English HL Position Overview

Trinityhouse Glenvista Preparatory is seeking a passionate and qualified English Home Language Teacher for the Intersen Phase. This role is ideal for an educator who is committed to inspiring learners and delivering engaging lessons that foster literacy, critical thinking, and independent learning.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping students’ academic foundations while maintaining the high standards associated with the Trinityhouse brand.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Delivery

  • Deliver engaging and future-focused English HL lessons.
  • Inspire students to think critically and communicate effectively.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs.
  • Use educational technology to enhance classroom learning.

Assessment and Reporting

  • Design and administer assessments.
  • Mark and moderate learner work.
  • Prepare accurate academic reports and feedback.

Classroom Management

  • Maintain a disciplined and positive learning environment.
  • Implement effective student behaviour management strategies.
  • Encourage participation and independent learning.

Parent and Community Engagement

  • Build constructive relationships with parents and guardians.
  • Participate in school events and parent meetings.
  • Communicate regularly regarding learner progress.

Administration

  • Complete lesson plans, reports, and academic records.
  • Participate in meetings and school committees.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure learner safety at all times.
  • Apply first aid knowledge where required.
  • Follow school health and safety policies.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this teaching position, applicants must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.) or an undergraduate degree plus PGCE.
  • Specialisation in Intermediate, Intersen, or Senior Phase.
  • Valid South African Council for Educators (SACE) registration.
  • Police clearance certificate.
  • 2 to 5 years of teaching experience.
  • Strong computer and digital literacy skills.
  • First Aid certification.
