About the Junior Cost Accountant Role

The successful candidate will join a prestigious wine business in the Stellenbosch Winelands. This role is responsible for calculating accurate production costs, managing stock integrity, and supporting pricing decisions that drive profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory and Variance Analysis

  • Review and verify physical stock counts across multiple winehouses.
  • Investigate stock discrepancies.
  • Report inventory variances and recommend corrective actions.

Production Order Processing

  • Update Production Orders (PORs) in the ERP system.
  • Ensure consumed and produced quantities are accurately captured.
  • Verify input costs are processed correctly.

Supplier Pricing and Costing Masterfile Maintenance

  • Monitor price changes from suppliers.
  • Update and maintain the Costing Masterfile.
  • Compare supplier costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.

Finished Goods Costing

  • Calculate manufacturing costs for:
    • Finished wines
    • Dry goods
    • Blending components
  • Support selling price and gross margin analysis.

Systems Integration

  • Ensure stock movements reconcile between WineMS and Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.

Audit and Finance Support

  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the finance team.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • BCom Degree or Diploma in:
    • Financial Accounting
    • Cost Accounting
    • Management Accounting

Professional Registration (Advantageous)

  • Studying towards or registered with:
    • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
    • South African Institute of Professional Accountants

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in:
    • Cost accounting
    • Financial administration
    • Manufacturing costing
    • Inventory control

Systems Experience

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • WineMS (advantageous)

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Advanced Excel skills
