What Does a Rotable Controller Do?
A Rotable Controller manages the repair cycle, inventory, and quality control of reusable mining components such as motors, pumps, gearboxes, and other critical equipment. The objective is to ensure that essential spares are repaired and returned quickly to support uninterrupted mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
Rotable Equipment Management
- Coordinate repairs and tracking of rotable components.
- Ensure repaired equipment is returned on time.
- Maintain complete serial number records.
Supplier Coordination
- Follow up with suppliers on repair turnaround times.
- Process warranty and guarantee claims.
- Conduct supplier inspections.
Quality Assurance
- Inspect repaired components before acceptance.
- Verify that repairs meet technical specifications.
Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate stock records.
- Ensure availability of critical spares.
Operational Support
- Liaise with stores, maintenance teams, and suppliers.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Valid Trade Test qualification
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a qualified artisan
- Technical buying experience in mining or heavy industry is advantageous
Additional Qualifications
- Procurement qualification (advantageous)

- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Project
Knowledge Requirements
- Mechanical and electrical mining equipment
- Supply chain and procurement processes
- Inventory control and stock management
Other Requirements
- Valid South African Driver’s License
