About the Estimator Role

The Estimator will prepare accurate cost estimates, support tender submissions, and assist with project cost control. This role is critical in ensuring competitive pricing and profitable project delivery.

You will work closely with engineers, quantity surveyors, and project managers to analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimating

  • Prepare accurate and competitive construction estimates.
  • Calculate labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Develop pricing schedules and bills of quantities.

Tender and Bid Support

  • Compile tender submissions and bid documentation.
  • Review tender conditions and compliance requirements.

Post-Tender Cost Control

  • Assist with project financial tracking.
  • Monitor budgets against actual costs.

Contract Analysis

  • Interpret construction contracts including:
    • International Federation of Consulting Engineers
    • General Conditions of Contract
    • Joint Building Contracts Committee

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure pricing accuracy.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree or Bachelor of Technology (NQF Level 7) in:
    • Civil Engineering
    • Quantity Surveying

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in civil engineering or construction.

Software Skills

  • CCS Candy
  • Microsoft Project
  • Microsoft Excel

Technical Knowledge

  • Construction estimating
  • Tender adjudication
  • Contract administration
  • Cost control

Salary and Benefits
