Motus Corporation through its Autoworx division is seeking a Bodyshop Assistant: Spray Painter for its Cape Town Speed Shop. This is a hands-on technical role focused on high-quality spray painting, colour matching, and ensuring top-tier finish standards in a fast-paced automotive repair environment.

About the Role
The Bodyshop Assistant (Spray Painter) is responsible for supporting and executing all paint shop operations, including spray painting, colour mixing, surface preparation checks, and quality control.
You will play a key role in ensuring vehicles meet high-quality finish standards, safety compliance, and cost efficiency targets.
Key Responsibilities
Spray Painting & Colour Matching
- Perform spray painting on vehicles and parts
- Achieve accurate colour matching (including light variation adjustments)
- Prevent overspray and ensure smooth, professional finishes
Quality Control & Inspection
- Conduct final inspections before and after painting
- Ensure preparation work meets required standards
- Maintain consistent paint quality across all jobs
- Identify and correct overspray or imperfections
Paint Shop Operations
- Monitor and maintain paint shop equipment
- Ensure tools and materials are used efficiently
- Support cost-effective paint usage and waste reduction
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organised workshop
Health & Safety Compliance
- Enforce strict health and safety procedures in the paint shop
- Participate in emergency procedure training
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations
Team Support & Training
- Assist in training junior paint shop staff
- Support preparation team with quality checks
- Promote teamwork and efficient workflow across the bodyshop
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (required)
- Minimum 2 years’ spray painting experience
- Experience in colour matching and vehicle refinishing
- Valid Code 8 driver’s license (2+ years)
- Basic computer literacy
- Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
