About the Sales Manager: Used Vehicles Role

The Used Vehicle Sales Manager will oversee the dealership’s used vehicle department, ensuring strong sales performance, effective inventory management, and exceptional customer service.

The role focuses on leading a high-performing sales team while driving profitability and operational efficiency within the dealership environment.


Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and manage the used vehicle sales team
  • Set sales targets and monitor team performance
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback
  • Build a high-performance sales culture

Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to improve profitability
  • Drive revenue growth within the used vehicle department
  • Identify market opportunities and customer trends
  • Monitor dealership sales performance metrics

Inventory & Operations Management

  • Manage used vehicle inventory levels effectively
  • Optimise pricing strategies and stock turnover
  • Coordinate with other dealership departments to ensure operational efficiency
  • Maintain healthy profit margins through strategic stock management

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business
  • Encourage referrals and long-term client loyalty
  • Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally

Training & Staff Development

  • Conduct performance reviews and coaching sessions
  • Implement training initiatives to improve sales skills
  • Support continuous learning and development within the team

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with dealership policies and automotive regulations
  • Maintain accurate reporting and sales documentation
  • Use CRM systems and dealership software effectively

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years’ automotive sales experience
  • At least 2 years’ management or leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of dealership and used vehicle operations
  • Experience with CRM systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
