Position Overview
The school is seeking a Physical Science Teacher (FET Phase) to teach learners in the senior high school phase (Grades 10–12).
This role focuses on delivering strong conceptual understanding in Physics and Chemistry, while building learners’ problem-solving, analytical, and scientific thinking skills.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Delivery
- Teach Physical Science (Physics and Chemistry) to FET learners
- Deliver structured, engaging, and future-focused lessons
- Break down complex scientific concepts into understandable learning content
- Use practical demonstrations, experiments, and digital tools to enhance learning
- Align teaching with curriculum standards and school academic strategy
Assessment & Reporting
- Design and conduct formative and summative assessments
- Track learner progress and provide structured feedback
- Maintain accurate academic records and reports
- Identify and support at-risk learners academically
Classroom Management & Learner Support
- Maintain a disciplined and productive learning environment
- Encourage curiosity, experimentation, and scientific reasoning
- Support learners with academic challenges in Physical Science
- Promote safe handling of laboratory materials and experiments
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with other educators and academic staff
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding learner performance
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and academic planning
- Contribute to a collaborative school environment
Administration & Compliance
- Complete academic administration tasks accurately and timeously
- Maintain lesson plans, records, and assessment documentation
- Ensure compliance with school policies and procedures
Health & Safety
- Ensure safe laboratory and classroom practices
- Supervise practical experiments according to safety standards
- Promote awareness of scientific safety protocols among learners
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7)
- PGCE or B.Ed (FET Phase) specialising in Physical Science
- Registered with SACE (South African Council for Educators)
- Police clearance certificate
- 2–5 years teaching experience
- 2–5 years Physical Science teaching experience
- Computer and digital literacy
- First Aid certification
