Warehouse Controller Job Overview

The Warehouse Controller is responsible for managing stock integrity, warehouse operations, and the internal distribution and replenishment of products. This role oversees inbound and outbound logistics, inventory accuracy, warehouse maintenance, and team supervision.

You will report directly to the Customer Service Excellence Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Warehouse Management

  • Plan warehouse shifts and align resources to operational requirements
  • Monitor budgets and operating costs
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Conduct 5S audits and implement continuous improvement actions
  • Use problem-solving tools such as 5 Why, PDCA, and OPLs
  • Monitor daily load plan execution
  • Investigate forklift damages and operational deviations

Inbound Control

  • Oversee receiving, quality checks, and put-away strategies
  • Ensure accurate system transactions for all inbound stock
  • Manage FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) stock rotation

Outbound Control

  • Ensure correct, damage-free dispatch of customer orders
  • Verify invoicing accuracy
  • Coordinate loading and sealing of vehicles
  • Investigate service failures and implement corrective actions

Stock Control

  • Conduct daily cycle counts
  • Manage obsolete and slow-moving stock
  • Monitor inventory variances and perform root cause analysis
  • Ensure all stock movements are accurately captured in SAP
  • Perform monthly inventory reconciliations

Warehouse Maintenance

  • Inspect warehouse cleanliness and maintenance
  • Ensure damaged stock is segregated and labelled
  • Monitor forklift conditions and daily checklists

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure stock leaves the warehouse with correct documentation
  • Enforce security protocols
  • Maintain quality standards, pest control, and temperature monitoring

Team Supervision

  • Train warehouse staff on SOPs
  • Ensure understanding and sign-off of procedures
  • Drive consistent communication and performance standards

Minimum Requirements

To be considered, applicants must have:

  • National Diploma or Degree in Logistics
  • Minimum 3 years’ warehouse experience
  • SAP or Syspro system experience
  • Strong computer literacy (MS Office)
