About the Automation & Systems Engineer Role

This role focuses on supporting and improving automation systems within a manufacturing plant. You will work on PLC programming, SCADA configuration, system commissioning, troubleshooting, and automation improvement projects.

The position involves both on-site technical support and office-based engineering work, ensuring production systems run efficiently and reliably.


Key Responsibilities

PLC Programming & Control Systems

  • Develop, modify, and maintain PLC programs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues
  • Support system upgrades and improvements

SCADA Systems Management

  • Configure and maintain SCADA systems
  • Manage tags, alarms, trends, and operator interfaces
  • Work on platforms such as VTScada, Ignition, or FactoryTalk

Commissioning & Testing

  • Support commissioning and system validation
  • Assist with factory testing and installation of systems
  • Provide technical support during breakdowns and upgrades

Automation Projects

  • Assist in planning and execution of automation projects
  • Manage smaller automation projects from start to finish

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain electrical drawings and system documentation
  • Compile reports and performance analysis using Microsoft Excel

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with maintenance and production teams
  • Liaise with suppliers and technical partners
  • Improve system performance and factory efficiency

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • N4–N6 in Electrical or Mechatronics (minimum)
  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering field (advantageous)

Experience

  • 4–6 years’ experience in:
    • Automation engineering
    • System integration
    • Industrial control environments

Technical Skills

  • PLC programming (essential)
  • SCADA systems (VTScada, Ignition, or FactoryTalk advantageous)
  • Industrial communication protocols:
    • Modbus
    • Ethernet/IP
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Good communication skills
  • High level of organization
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Other Requirements

  • Own transport (advantageous)

Salary Overview

Annual Salary Approximate Monthly Salary
