Introduction

A manufacturing company in Kempton Park is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their team. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with internal policies, thereby minimizing financial risks and supporting the overall financial health of the business.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for a wide range of bookkeeping and financial accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures, and contributing to accurate financial reporting. Key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Processing & Reporting:
    • Manage all financial processing, recording, and reporting operations.
    • Ensure timely and accurate reconciliations of monthly balances, including banks, petty cash, fixed assets, and accrual accounts.
  • Import Supervision:
    • Oversee imports, including reviewing paperwork, logistic arrangements, and status registers.
    • Ensure import costings and documentation are reviewed and approved by the financial manager.
  • Petty Cash & Credit Card Management:
    • Administer and reconcile all petty cash transactions.
    • Manage credit and fleet card statements, prepare ledger postings, and reconcile monthly.
  • Supplier & Customer Management:
    • Handle supplier documents, including purchase orders, non-warehouse items, and services.
    • Reconcile supplier accounts and prepare payment documentation.
    • Update and maintain customer account information, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting:
    • Assist with the preparation of financial reports, including monthly sales, quarterly reviews, annual audits, and carbon footprint reports.
    • Provide documentation for audits and handle general financial administration as required.
  • Internal Financial Controls:
    • Maintain effective accounting systems and controls to support financial reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with financial accounting standards, commercial law, statutory requirements, and tax regulations.

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical/Professional Knowledge: High level of proficiency in accounting principles and financial management.
  • Communication & Reporting: Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly numerate with strong attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal & Administrative Skills: Good interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • IT Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel emphasis) and accounting software (e.g., Pastel Evolution).
