Job Responsibilities:

  • Practice effective self-management in alignment with MRC values and leadership initiatives.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure smooth workflows and effective communication.
  • Complete the Safety Officer’s Inspection and Logbook accurately and on time.
  • Conduct thorough and timely investigations of incidents and accidents.
  • Proactively mitigate risks and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of safety campaigns, codes of practice, and proactive measures within the Business Management System.
  • Ensure adherence to M&RC’s values and safety protocols.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Grade 12 or equivalent.
    • National Diploma in Safety / Risk Management or equivalent at NQF Level 6 (advantageous).
    • Trade Certificate / Blasting Certificate.
    • COMSOC 1 & 2.
    • Investigation / Tap Root training (preferred).
    • Audit certification for ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel).
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Experience:
    • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role within the mining sector.
    • Ability to conduct investigations and accurately record findings.
    • Experience with relevant safety principles and systems.
    • Shaft experience is advantageous.
