Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a skilled Cashier on a fixed-term contract to join our team at the Hemingways store in East London. The ideal candidate will enhance the customer shopping experience by efficiently handling financial transactions, maintaining accuracy to minimize fraud risks, and providing world-class customer service at the point of sale.

Key Responsibilities:

• Record customer transactions in line with Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures, ensuring zero tolerance for inaccuracies.
• Deliver high-quality customer service while building strong professional relationships with customers.
• Manage cash flow and handle daily takings confidentially, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Be familiar with current promotions and efficiently process payments, including credit card transactions, vouchers, coupons, and more.
• Handle loyalty programs such as Discovery Health, Medihelp, Momentum Multiply, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks.
• Safeguard all transactions and ensure that security procedures are followed to mitigate risk.
• Respond to customer queries about store merchandise and promotions with efficiency and professionalism.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12/Matric qualification.
• A minimum of 6 months of cashier/till operation experience.
• Computer literacy – especially in MS Office.
• Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of a third language is advantageous.
• Customer service orientation and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work flexible retail hours.
