Dis-Chem Baby City in Bellville is seeking a Sales Assistant to deliver excellent customer service and support daily retail operations. The role includes stock management, processing payments, and ensuring high standards of merchandising.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Management
- Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, and damaged or expired products to management.
- Assist with stock counting and general stocktaking.
- Load and off-load stock as required, ensuring proper placement and organization.
- Keep displays tidy, well-stocked, and free from expired items to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with retail standards.
Merchandising and Promotions
- Organize displays, ensure correct pricing, and support promotional activities.
- Maintain stable and attractive displays, ensuring promotions are timely and effectively set up.
- Ensure that promotional stock and signage are updated as promotions begin and conclude.
Customer Service
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable service to customers, helping with inquiries and product selection.
- Address customer compliments and complaints, escalating to management as needed.
- Build a professional rapport with customers, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
Sales and Payment Processing
- Accurately process transactions, handling all accepted forms of payment.
- Scan all outgoing items to ensure all purchases are accounted for.
- Process loyalty and partner cards during transactions.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric.
- Experience: Up to six months of retail experience, with a minimum of one year in a customer service or retail role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification: Qualification in Retail Business Management is an asset.
Competencies and Skills
- Retail Knowledge: Familiar with retail operations and administration.
- Communication: Strong command of English, both written and verbal.
- Problem Solving: Ability to handle queries and resolve issues.
- Trustworthy: Reliable and capable of managing cash and stock responsibly.
- Time Management: Efficiently manages tasks and customer interactions.
- Computer Literacy: Basic skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
