About the Role:

TsAfrika Catering Solutions is seeking a General Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will assist Cooks and Chefs with food production, handle cash register operations, serve food, and maintain cleanliness in the canteen and kitchen areas.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Cleanliness & Hygiene: Adhere to company and statutory regulations regarding cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Quality & Standards: Ensure that customer service and operating processes, health and safety standards, and food quality standards are consistently met.
  • Food Preparation: Assist in meal preparations, particularly with salads and desserts.
  • Serving Line: Place entrees, salads, desserts, and other food items on the serving line while ensuring it remains well-stocked and clean.
  • Training: May assist in training new employees.
  • Storage & Records: Store and record food leftovers.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain clean and orderly canteen tables, kitchen, and other areas.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Meet customer expectations as outlined in the provisions of the contract and deliver a high level of customer service.
  • Stock Management: Ensure proper stock counting and handover to the next shift where applicable.
  • Management Requests: Carry out reasonable requests by management.
  • Customer Interaction: Report and, where possible, take action on customer and client complaints or compliments.
  • Meetings & Training: Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Other Duties: Perform related work as assigned.

  • Practical & Methodical: Enjoys practical and methodical work.
  • Honesty & Reliability: Must be honest and dependable.
  • Good Coordination: Strong hand-eye coordination.
  • Efficiency & Safety: Ability to work quickly and safely.
  • Personal Hygiene: Good personal hygiene and freedom from skin allergies to foods and detergents.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills.
  • Teamwork: Must be able to work as part of a team.
  • Stamina: Ability to work 45-50 hours per week.
  • Physical Capability: Able to bend, stand, and lift.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have completed a Matric/Senior Certificate.
