Are you an experienced Buyer, Procurement Officer, or Supply Chain Specialist looking for a high-paying purchasing job in South Africa? Tiger Brands is hiring a strategic Buyer to manage purchase orders, supplier relationships, and material procurement for its FMCG operations.
This role offers a dynamic work environment where you’ll play a key role in optimizing stock levels, ensuring on-time supplier deliveries, and resolving purchasing discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Purchase Order & Procurement Management
- Process and convert purchase requisitions into purchase orders.
- Ensure timely ordering and accurate PO creation.
- Manage material call-offs and ensure on-time supplier deliveries.
- Work closely with receiving personnel to ensure accurate stock updates in the system.
- Expedite outstanding orders based on business needs.
✅ Supplier Relations & Cost Management
- Monitor supplier On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) performance.
- Resolve invoice price variances and purchasing discrepancies.
- Negotiate cost-effective procurement strategies and improve supplier terms.
- Track slow-moving and obsolete stock to optimize working capital.
- Coordinate returns and upliftment of non-compliant stock.
✅ Inventory & Stock Control
- Assist in stock counts to ensure accurate inventory records.
- Work with warehouse teams to resolve material variance issues.
- Track and flag stock nearing expiration for planning teams.
- Generate transport-related POs for 3rd party co-packers & offsite storage.
✅ Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure purchasing practices align with procurement policies and best practices.
- Track and close open purchase orders to improve operational efficiency.
- Communicate with finance on the status of active POs.
- Monitor key procurement KPIs, including purchase order accuracy, emergency purchases, and cost per invoice.
Who Should Apply?
✅ Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma/Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Procurement.
- 3+ years’ experience in purchasing/supply chain (FMCG industry preferred).
- Strong knowledge of procurement software, ERP systems, and Excel.
- Experience in supplier negotiations, cost management, and purchase order tracking.
