Lead Maintenance & Engineering Operations in a High-Performance FMCG Environment!
Are you a Maintenance Engineer, Electrical/Mechanical Engineer, or Plant Maintenance Manager looking for a high-paying engineering job in South Africa? Tiger Brands is seeking a skilled Maintenance Manager to oversee plant operations, equipment maintenance, CAPEX planning, and compliance with OHSAct regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
✅ Planned & Preventative Maintenance
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
- Conduct regular plant inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Issue and manage job cards for maintenance tasks.
- Approve engineering spare parts within budget and oversee quality maintenance activities.
✅ CAPEX & Budget Planning
- Plan and forecast CAPEX budgets for a 5-year strategy.
- Submit CAPEX justifications as per company requirements.
- Track maintenance costs and implement cost-saving initiatives.
✅ People & Team Management
- Build a high-performance culture through employee engagement and development.
- Conduct regular meetings with staff and union representatives.
- Identify skills gaps and provide training opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures for workplace discipline.
✅ Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain safe working conditions by adhering to OHSAct regulations.
- Promote an environmentally conscious mindset in the manufacturing environment.
- Oversee internal and external audits (ISO 14001, DQS, risk assessments).
- Drive compliance with safety standards, reducing lost-time injury frequency rates (LTIFR).
✅ Financial & Cost Management
- Analyze and control maintenance cost drivers.
- Track Cost Per Loaf (CPL) and implement corrective actions to optimize production expenses.
- Oversee spare parts stock control to minimize unnecessary costs.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting on supply chain, environmental impact, and performance metrics.
✅ Technical & Process Optimization
- Calibrate electrical and mechanical bakery equipment (scaling weights, dough temperature, mixer energy consumption).
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for efficient production.
- Conduct root cause analysis for equipment breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
- Drive the implementation of PM (Planned Maintenance) pillar of MECP.
Who Should Apply?
✅ Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or higher).
- Trade Test in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (essential).
- 5+ years in a leadership role within FMCG, preferably in a bakery environment.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Systems (CMS).
- Strong understanding of OHSAct regulations and food safety standards.
- Expertise in budgeting, CAPEX planning, and cost control.
