Job Description

As a Junior Technologist, you will play a key role in driving, protecting, and enhancing the Clicks brand. You will be responsible for ensuring that all Baby Clothing and Accessories products developed and sourced for Clicks stores are compliant with regulations, meet safety standards, and contribute to the company’s profitability and market share growth. You will support the NPD team, ensuring product quality and safety compliance while maintaining strong collaboration with internal and external teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, functionality, and manufacture of Baby Clothing & Accessories.
  • Interface with relevant teams to deliver consumer-focused, innovative, and optimized products.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and the NPD approval process to protect brand reputation and minimize financial impact.
  • Implement quality processes and maintain the necessary paperwork, ensuring specifications conform to quality standards.
  • Prepare timely reports related to sales, quality, and corrective actions, including supplier scorecards.
  • Manage customer complaints, product recalls, withdrawals, and corrective action plans.
  • Lead the implementation of regulatory changes and ensure compliance with new legislative requirements.
  • Provide technical training for new product launches and conduct regular supplier audits.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge:
    • Understanding of clothing and accessory regulations, labelling laws, and product safety processes
    • In-depth knowledge of fabrics, materials, and manufacturing processes in the relevant categories
  • Skills:
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills
    • Ability to work on multiple projects and collaborate across teams
    • Strong quality orientation and attention to detail
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
    • Project management and administration skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years’ practical knowledge in textile and accessory development, testing, and/or quality control
  • Education:
    • Diploma/Degree in Clothing and Textile Technology
