Job Purpose

We are seeking a Stock Controller for the United Pharmaceutical Distributors (UPD), Cape Town branch. The role involves overseeing warehousing operations, ensuring stock is managed efficiently, and complying with Good Wholesaling and Distribution Practices (GWDP). The Stock Controller will report to the Warehouse Supervisor and ensure smooth, accurate inventory handling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stock Management & Compliance: Ensure compliance with GWDP, FEEFO/FIFO stock rotation, and batch traceability.
  • Cycle Counts: Perform accurate, timely cycle counts and ensure proper storage and packing of products.
  • Stock Adjustments: Manage stock adjustments related to short-dated, expired, or damaged products, and ensure proper removal and recordkeeping.
  • Inventory Records: Maintain accurate records of all stock counts, adjustments, and related transactions.
  • Operational Targets: Meet cost containment targets and deadlines, ensuring efficient stock control operations.
  • Stock Control Duties: Perform stock control duties as assigned by management to ensure efficient warehouse operations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:
    • Matric / Grade 12 / ABET Level 4 (compulsory)
    • NQF Level 2 in Wholesale and Retail Distribution (advantageous)
  • Experience:
    • 2 – 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or relevant field.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Basic product knowledge
    • Knowledge of warehousing and distribution
    • Computer literacy (Excel essential)
    • Numerically literate with the ability to operate equipment
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication skills
    • Problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Logical thinking and attention to detail
  • Personal Competencies:
    • Teamwork and collaboration
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
    • Task/results-oriented with strong numerical skills
