Job Description

Tsebo Facilities Solutions is looking for an Electrician responsible for performing and supervising (when necessary) electrical repairs, installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment. This includes reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance, and compliance with legislation and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain Electrical Systems & Equipment

• Check in with the helpdesk for scheduled jobs after each task and at the end of the day.
• Manage time effectively for scheduled tasks.
• Prepare necessary tools and PPE for daily tasks.
• Respond to electrical equipment and systems installation, repair, and upgrade requests.
• Diagnose system faults and troubleshoot to complete necessary repairs.
• Set up and test new electrical systems, ensuring proper functionality and locating faults.
• Inspect and audit electrical supplies, machinery, and systems for safety and risk.
• Install conduits and run wiring to power switches, circuit breaker panels, and relays.
• Keep management informed of status and challenges related to repairs and installations.
• Secure and store parts and tools following regulations and SOPs.

Electrical Compliance

• Inspect and test electrical systems for compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in line with regulations.
• Stay up-to-date with new trade knowledge, equipment, and updated regulations.
• Maintain compliance with policies and procedures for electrical equipment installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Ensure the safe handling and use of tools, test meters, and power tools.

Shift Supervision (If applicable)

• Complete and sign off on inspection registers for electrical systems and equipment.
• Interact with clients to address requests, special requirements, and concerns.
• Supervise contractors or junior staff in equipment handling and appearance.
• Ensure stock and equipment are managed as per SOPs.
• Provide support to staff and contractors on escalated technical queries.
• Follow up on fault logging until resolution and provide recommendations for improvement.

Electrical Compliance Standards & Governance

• Ensure all work aligns with legislative compliance regarding health, hygiene, safety, and environmental standards.

Stakeholder Management

• Engage with internal customers to understand their electrical needs and repair requirements.
• Provide updates to stakeholders regarding electrical outages and scheduled shutdowns.
• Work with contractors, suppliers, and junior staff to meet deadlines.
• Alert management regarding security, health, safety, and technical breaches.

Skills and Competencies

• Practical knowledge of electrical procedures and processes.
• Ability to plan tasks in the short-term (within 3 months).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with others in the team.
• Time management skills to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
• Experience with health and safety management and legislation.

Qualifications

• Matric.
• 2-Year Diploma/Trade Test as an Electrician.
• Wireman’s License (mandatory).
• At least 3 years of experience in electrical repairs.
• Supervisory experience is a plus.
• Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders, subcontractors, and suppliers.
