Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day tasks will cover all aspects of professional baking, from preparation to presentation.

Recipe Preparation and Baking

  • Follow bakery recipes accurately, using the correct quantities of ingredients to ensure consistent results.

  • Create new recipe templates for innovative products and test them before introducing them to customers.

  • Work with energy and focus to meet early-morning production schedules and customer demand.

Production Management

  • Adhere to a detailed production schedule to ensure all bakery items are consistently available.

  • Prepare a wide range of baked goods, including breads, pastries, cakes, and specialty items.

  • Produce custom or special orders when requested by customers.

Stock and Inventory Control

  • Perform accurate weekly stock takes and maintain clear records.

  • Notify the bakery manager when ingredients are running low and place orders with the correct suppliers.

  • Ensure ingredients are stored safely and hygienically to maintain freshness and quality.

Equipment Operation

  • Safely operate bakery equipment such as ovens, mixers, and dough sheeters under supervision.

  • Monitor baking progress carefully to achieve the perfect texture, flavor, and appearance.

Cleanliness and Food Safety

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic workspace at all times.

  • Follow food safety standards and hygiene regulations to protect product quality and customer health.


Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this Artisan Baker role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Matric (Grade 12).

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Baker in a commercial or artisan bakery.

  • Location: Must live within 25 km of Randburg, Gauteng.

  • Compliance: Clear criminal record.


Preferred Attributes

While not required, the following qualifications will enhance your application:

  • South African citizenship.

  • Candidates between 18 and 45 years of age.

  • Previous experience working with sourdough or other specialty baking techniques.


Work Schedule

This role requires flexibility and reliability.
You will work shifts across trading and non-trading hours, including Sundays and Public Holidays.
Early-morning availability is essential to meet daily production demands.
