Key Responsibilities
As a General Assistant in our bakery department, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that keep our store running smoothly and ensure our customers have a positive shopping experience.

Customer Service Excellence

Greet shoppers warmly and offer assistance with product selection.

Answer customer questions accurately and help them locate bakery items or related products.

Resolve complaints and provide solutions to ensure customer satisfaction.

Promote current sales, special offers, and loyalty programs.

Point-of-Sale (POS) and Cash Handling

Process cash and card transactions quickly and accurately.

Issue receipts, handle refunds and exchanges, and maintain accurate cash drawer balances.

Follow all cash-handling and security protocols.

Stock Management

Receive bakery deliveries, check accuracy, and record incoming stock.

Organize and replenish shelves to maintain product availability.

Monitor stock levels and restock sold-out items promptly.

Participate in regular stock takes and maintain correct inventory counts.

Store Presentation and Hygiene
-
Keep the bakery area, storeroom, and kitchen clean and organized.

Dispose of waste properly and ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards.

Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations, including emergency procedures.

Requirements
To be considered for this General Assistant – Bakery position, you must meet the following minimum criteria:

Education: Matric (Grade 12)

Experience: Previous work as a General Assistant, General Worker, or General Clerk is advantageous.

Location: Must reside within 25 km of Menlyn, Gauteng.
-
Other: Clear criminal record.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following will give you a competitive advantage:

South African citizenship.

Own transport for easy commuting.

Proficiency in English for effective communication.
