Position Overview
The Bank and Cash Clerk is an entry-level finance position responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of banking, foreign payments, petty cash, and general accounting tasks. The role supports finance operations while providing hands-on experience and exposure to high-volume, real-world financial processes in a leading legal environment.

Key Responsibilities
Monthly Accounting
- Capture Foreign Exchange Contracts (FECs) on Nedbank Global and CMS systems and ensure timely authorization.
- Assist controllers with monthly accounting tasks as required.
Daily Accounting
- Capture EFTs on all bank accounts and ensure timely authorization.
- Update accounts in line with firm policies and procedures.
- Calculate spot rates for foreign exchange contracts before payment processing.
- Issue receipting instructions and ensure accurate referencing of statements and requests.
- Capture beneficiaries on various banking profiles.
- Process foreign payments from accounts receivable and accounts payable divisions.
- Monitor foreign cashflow and investigate discrepancies on bank statements.
- Save and organize all foreign/global proof of payments (POPs).
- Stand in for Trust and Investments functions when required.
- Identify and process bank charges across all business accounts daily.
Petty Cash
- Capture petty cash expenses on CMS, debiting the appropriate matter or operational account.
- Process cheque requests for petty cash reimbursements via CMS.
Minimum Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, or Bookkeeping.
- Basic accounting and cashflow knowledge.
- Familiarity with banking systems (local and foreign); CMS experience is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage high volumes, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills with strong command of English.
- Initiative, independence, and strong problem-solving abilities.
