Position Overview

The Shop Assistant – Lemo Mall is responsible for delivering a personalized, professional, and inspirational shopping experience for all customers. This role contributes to sales targets, operational excellence, and store presentation while supporting daily store operations, stock management, and visual merchandising initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Customer Service

  • Greet customers and provide tailored product advice, ensuring a welcoming store experience
  • Promote current promotions, loyalty programs, and new products to drive sales
  • Focus on basket size growth and link-selling opportunities
  • Perform makeovers and record customer details and products used
  • Respond to customer queries, feedback, and complaints, escalating when required

Stock & Inventory Management

  • Prepare and participate in daily floor walks, cycle counts, and stock takes
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floors and stockrooms
  • Implement FIFO stock rotation and prevent product damage
  • Report stock shortages, out-of-stock items, and low stock levels to the Store Supervisor

Visual Merchandising & Store Operations

  • Implement and maintain store visual merchandising standards
  • Support marketing initiatives such as sidewalk sales, pop-up stores, and promotions
  • Ensure adherence to store procedures including POS, cash handling, banking, and staff uniform policies
  • Contribute to achieving minimum operational checklist standards consistently

Team Support & Training

  • Attend and participate in team meetings and training sessions
  • Assist with induction and training of new employees
  • Share new product knowledge and skills with colleagues
  • Report policy breaches, operational concerns, or procedural gaps to management or confidential channels

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-year retail experience
  • Experience with beauty, skincare, and fragrance products advantageous
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale systems and Microsoft Office (Excel & Email)
