Position Overview: Buyer

BFM is seeking a skilled Buyer to provide operational procurement support within the Supply Chain Department in Centurion.

This role focuses on operational buying, Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) transaction management, vendor coordination, data analysis, and master data administration support. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate order placement, cost control, supplier performance monitoring, and efficient procurement processes.

This opportunity is ideal for a procurement professional with strong SAP knowledge and experience in supply chain management within a corporate or facilities environment.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Procurement

  • Purchase materials, equipment, services, and general office supplies
  • Execute non-catalogue (free text) purchase orders
  • Manage the full Request for Quote (RFQ) process (obtain quotes, evaluate, award)
  • Identify potential new items for system coding and registration aligned to contracts
  • Identify commodities and services suitable for contract migration

Order Management & P2P Transactions

  • Manage end-to-end Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) transactions
  • Monitor and manage order exceptions
  • Identify late orders, price discrepancies, and quantity variances
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures

Stakeholder & Vendor Support

  • Train end users on purchasing procedures
  • Assist with initiating purchase requisitions
  • Resolve purchasing issues between requesters and vendors
  • Manage supplier payment queries with Accounts Payable
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies

Data & Master Data Administration

  • Gather documentation to support Master Data Administration
  • Assist with B-BBEE certificate collection and compliance documentation
  • Maintain accurate purchase order records in SAP
  • Conduct data analysis to support supply chain optimization

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • National Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Purchasing
  • CIPS qualification (advantageous)
  • 2–3 years’ purchasing experience
  • Strong understanding of products/services and cost structures
  • Experience in General Procurement, Supply Chain, and Material Management
  • Ability to manage Maverick Spend on services and commodities
  • Working knowledge of SAP (purchase order capturing and financial system input)
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Internet applications
