The Finance Analyst – Financial Information will support the Finance Manager by strengthening budgeting, reporting, financial modelling, and regulatory compliance processes within the organisation.


Position Overview

The primary purpose of this role is to assist with the development, monitoring, and analysis of budgeting and reporting processes. The Finance Analyst will work closely with budget holders, internal stakeholders, auditors, and regulatory bodies to ensure accurate financial management aligned with GRAP standards, PFMA requirements, and Treasury Regulations.

This is a mid-senior level opportunity suited to a qualified accounting professional with strong analytical skills and experience in financial reporting and modelling.


Key Responsibilities

Entity Budget Management

  • Facilitate workshops and meetings to understand budget holder requirements
  • Analyse business needs and assess their impact on budgets
  • Validate historical financial data and apply financial modelling techniques
  • Prepare budget templates and consolidate entity-wide budgets
  • Finalise budgets for MTEC submission
  • Monitor cost centre expenditure on a monthly basis
  • Prepare and implement virements processes

Internal and External Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly management accounts for decision-making
  • Compile monthly and ad-hoc financial reports for internal stakeholders
  • Assist in drafting annual and interim financial statements
  • Analyse and interpret GRAP standards and assess impact on reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and regulatory financial reports

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support annual regulatory and externally funded audits
  • Present financial information to management when required
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding budgets and reporting
  • Monitor finance service desk queries and ensure timely resolution
  • Create and manage financial system dashboards for reporting purposes
  • Coach trainee accountants and junior staff on financial processes

Minimum Requirements

  • Postgraduate qualification in Financial Accounting (BCom Honours or similar)
  • Completed SAICA articles or at least 5 years’ experience in an accounting firm (excluding AGSA)
  • 3–5 years’ experience drafting financial statements in CaseWare
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
  • Valid driver’s license and own transport
  • Bilingual in at least two official languages of the Western Cape
  • No criminal record

Recommended / Added Advantage

  • Post-articles experience at a small to medium accounting firm
  • Completed ITC examinations
  • Practical knowledge of Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems
