Position Overview: Handyman (HVAC)
BFM is currently seeking a skilled Handyman (HVAC) to perform planned, preventative, and emergency maintenance on specified HVAC and related equipment.
This role requires a technically capable individual who can ensure all maintenance activities meet client requirements, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and legislative standards. The successful candidate will work closely with artisans and maintenance teams to support efficient facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
As a Handyman (HVAC), your duties will include:
- Executing job card requirements in line with client and company specifications
- Servicing equipment according to scheduled, preventative, or emergency maintenance plans
- Ensuring all maintenance complies with relevant legislation, SLAs, and job plans
- Conducting investigations, evaluations, and restoration of identified faults and hazards (Phase 2, 3, and 4 SLAs)
- Providing continuous feedback to clients on restoration of operations
- Ensuring timeous completion of field service requests
- Reporting irregular occurrences to the Maintenance Control Centre or relevant Supervisors (SM/FM/RC)
- Assisting qualified artisans when required
- Undertaking additional related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Matric (Senior Certificate)
- N3 Technical qualification (Electrical or Mechanical)
- Valid South African Driver’s License
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in HVAC handyman maintenance tasks
- Safe handling of refrigerants license
- Basic training on hand tools, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
