The Senior Specialist: Cyber Security role is a key position within the Information Technology division, aimed at protecting the organization’s critical assets and enhancing its cybersecurity posture.
Position Overview
The Senior Specialist: Cyber Security is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing innovative cybersecurity solutions to safeguard the organization’s network and systems. Reporting to the Executive of Information Security, the incumbent will lead strategic projects, strengthen security architecture, and ensure the enterprise is protected against emerging cyber threats.
This role combines technical expertise with strategic insight, and involves mentoring team members, collaborating with operational teams, and continuously improving the organization’s security capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Governance
- Design and oversee implementation of cybersecurity initiatives aligned with organizational standards
- Monitor industry trends and emerging threats to inform security strategies
- Implement and enforce cybersecurity architecture standards
- Develop capabilities to detect vulnerabilities, threats, and anomalous events
- Oversee threat intelligence and defense strategies
Planning & Execution
- Lead and manage cybersecurity projects and initiatives
- Maintain Information Security Technology roadmaps
- Plan and document stakeholder SLAs and OLAs
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Continuously improve cybersecurity processes, policies, and technologies
- Oversee vendor performance and managed services where applicable
Operations
- Participate in Cyber Security Defence team activities
- Proactively respond to and remediate security incidents
- Collaborate with IT teams on successful completion of security projects
- Develop metrics and reporting frameworks for security events and activities
- Create and tune security detection signatures, Indicators of Compromise (IOCs), and other monitoring tools
- Conduct post-incident analysis to strengthen capabilities
Staff Administration
- Manage daily operations of the cybersecurity team
- Coach, mentor, and support team members
- Develop and maintain work instructions, SOPs, and policies
- Ensure ongoing training and development of the team
Analytics & Reporting
- Ensure integrity, accuracy, and consistency of all security-related data
- Assist in interpreting reports to recommend remedial actions
- Provide routine reporting on cybersecurity health and incidents
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on data analysis

Minimum Qualifications
- 3-year degree or diploma in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Information Security
- Preferred certifications: CISSP, CEH, Security+, Network+
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in Cyber and Information Security
- Experience securing Windows and Linux systems
- Experience securing firewalls, routers, and other network devices
- Experience with authentication and access management solutions
- Knowledge of vulnerability management, scanning, remediation, and penetration testing
- Strong analytical, organizational, and team collaboration skills
