Position Overview
The Supplier Relationship Manager (SRM) is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing strategic supplier partnerships to ensure service excellence, cost efficiency, innovation, and risk mitigation across the facilities management supply chain.
This role plays a key part in aligning supplier performance with operational objectives, driving BBBEE transformation goals, and ensuring compliance with governance, procurement, and ESG standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Performance & Relationship Management
- Develop and implement a structured Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) framework
- Establish and manage strategic and preferred supplier partnerships
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews aligned to KPIs and SLAs
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage escalations and contractual performance issues
Contract & Commercial Management
- Collaborate with Procurement and Legal teams to optimize contract value
- Ensure supplier compliance with commercial and service delivery obligations
- Identify cost-saving and value-creation opportunities
- Support sourcing initiatives and supplier negotiations
Operational Support (Facilities Management)
Ensure supplier performance aligns with service delivery standards across:
- Cleaning services
- Security services
- Technical maintenance
- Catering
- Pest control
- Landscaping
- Waste management
Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Risk & Compliance Management
- Conduct supplier risk assessments and mitigation planning
- Ensure alignment with:
- BBBEE and Enterprise & Supplier Development (ESD) objectives
- ESG and sustainability targets
- Governance and procurement policies
- Maintain updated supplier databases and performance scorecards
Supplier Development & Transformation
- Drive Enterprise & Supplier Development (ESD) initiatives
- Identify and develop emerging and BBBEE-compliant suppliers
- Support localization and transformation strategies
Reporting & Analytics
- Develop supplier dashboards and performance reports
- Analyze spend and service trends
- Track cost savings, innovation, and value-add delivery
- Report on SLA compliance and supplier risk ratings
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Senior Certificate)
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Supply Chain Management
- Procurement
- Business Management or related field
- CIPS qualification advantageous
- Valid Driver’s License
- 5–8 years’ experience in procurement or supplier relationship management
- Experience within Facilities Management, Property, or Built Environment sectors preferred
- Proven experience managing strategic suppliers and complex contracts
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Strong commercial and contract management expertise
- Deep understanding of SRM principles and best practices
- Knowledge of South African procurement legislation
- Familiarity with BBBEE and ESD frameworks
- Proficiency in:
- Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- SAP
- Reporting and data analysis tools
