Position Overview
The Utilities Administrator is responsible for managing relationships with Utility Service Providers, ensuring efficient resolution of queries and disputes, and overseeing the timely opening and termination of utility accounts.
This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate utility records, coordinating meter readings, and ensuring deposits, credits, and payments are properly managed.
Key Responsibilities
Utility Account Management
- Open new utility accounts timeously
- Process termination and closure of utility accounts
- Coordinate recovery of deposits and credits
- Assist with meter reading coordination
Query & Dispute Resolution
- Engage with Municipalities, Eskom, and landlords to resolve billing disputes
- Manage and track utility-related queries
- Ensure timely escalation and resolution of issues
- Maintain accurate progress trackers and activity reports
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Maintain professional communication with:
- Internal departments
- Clients
- Utility service providers
- External regulatory bodies
- Source key utility-related information and distribute to relevant stakeholders
- Ensure high levels of client service and professional engagement
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain supplier and client activity reports
- Update trackers and ensure documentation accuracy
- Ensure proper filing and compliance with internal procedures
- Support finance-related reconciliation processes where required
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Senior Certificate)
- Valid South African Driver’s License
- Finance qualification or studying towards one (advantageous)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a utilities environment
- Preferably municipal environments
- Experience interacting with Municipalities, Eskom, or landlords
- Strong computer literacy including:
- MS Outlook
- MS Word
- Advanced MS Excel
