Position Overview

The IT Support / IT Operations Engineer will play an essential role in supporting and maintaining the organisation’s IT infrastructure, cloud services, and end-user environments.

This role involves ticket-based IT support, infrastructure troubleshooting, and assisting with Microsoft Azure cloud services and Microsoft 365 environments.

The successful candidate will work within a structured IT Service Management (ITSM) environment, responding to technical issues quickly and ensuring that IT systems remain stable, secure, and operational.

A key success factor for this position is speed of execution during incidents and critical support requests, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities

IT Support & Ticket Management

  • Log, manage, prioritise, and resolve IT support tickets using the organisation’s approved ticketing system
  • Provide first-line and second-line technical support to end users both remotely and onsite
  • Prioritise incidents based on business impact and urgency
  • Maintain accurate documentation of support activities and solutions
  • Communicate clearly with users regarding ticket progress and resolution

Incident & Crisis Response

  • Respond quickly to high-priority IT incidents and system outages
  • Troubleshoot technical issues using structured problem-solving techniques
  • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or external vendors when required
  • Maintain calm and effective communication during major incidents

Infrastructure & Systems Support

  • Support endpoints, network connectivity, servers, and IT infrastructure components
  • Perform routine system health checks and preventative maintenance
  • Assist with backup operations and disaster recovery procedures
  • Maintain operational stability of IT environments

Cloud & Identity Management (Azure Focus)

  • Support Microsoft Azure cloud services and cloud-based applications
  • Assist with Active Directory and Azure AD user management
  • Provide support for Microsoft 365 / Office 365 environments
  • Work within hybrid cloud and on-premise IT environments

Security & Operational Controls

  • Apply endpoint security measures including patching, antivirus, and multi-factor authentication (MFA)
  • Support access governance and least-privilege security principles
  • Identify and escalate potential security threats or system vulnerabilities

Minimum Requirements

Candidates applying for this role should meet the following criteria:

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Equivalent practical experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications

Experience

  • 1–3 years’ experience in IT Support, IT Operations, or Infrastructure Support
  • Experience working with ticket-based support systems
  • Experience in environments where system uptime and response time are critical

Technical Skills

The ideal candidate should demonstrate experience with the following technologies:

  • Windows operating systems (macOS advantageous)
  • Microsoft 365 / Office 365
  • Active Directory / Azure Active Directory
  • Networking fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP
  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure cloud platforms
  • Basic scripting or automation knowledge
  • Experience working in hybrid cloud and on-premise environments
  • Understanding of backup and disaster recovery concepts
