Position Overview

Motus Corporation is looking for a strategic Assistant Warehouse Manager to join the Alert Engine Parts Riverhorse branch in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

This role supports the Warehouse Manager in overseeing all warehouse operations, including stock management, inbound and outbound logistics, staff supervision, safety compliance, and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

  • Assist in the development and implementation of stock control policies.
  • Supervise reconciliation of stock and monitor variances.
  • Ensure smooth warehouse operations including receiving, storage, dispatch, and allocation of stock.
  • Assist in monitoring daily stock counts, investigating discrepancies, and resolving issues.
  • Ensure controls are in place to prevent stock losses or theft.
  • Support efficient turnaround and adherence to warehouse lead times.
  • Oversee inbound and outbound parts processes, including unpacking, inspection, and allocation.
  • Supervise parts returned for credit (RFC) and supplier returns.
  • Assist in scheduling staff leave and learning & development initiatives.
  • Maintain discipline and enforce Health & Safety regulations on the warehouse floor.

Supervision & Leadership

  • Provide leadership guidance and mentorship to direct reports when required.
  • Support performance evaluations and employee development in all warehouse functions.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, company policies, and standard operating procedures (BSOP).
  • Assist in defining warehouse goals, objectives, and performance measurement criteria.
  • Supervise drivers, vehicle maintenance, distribution routes, branch security, and personnel.
  • Conduct and oversee Gemba Board meetings and ensure policy adherence.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric) required
  • Tertiary qualification in Warehouse Management, Logistics, or Supply Chain is advantageous

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in warehouse operations, preferably within the automotive industry
  • Prior experience as a Warehouse Supervisor or Assistant Warehouse Manager is essential

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong supervisory, planning, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to assign responsibilities, set clear objectives, and monitor progress
  • Understanding of labour and safety legislation including Health & Safety Act, Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment, and Employment Equity Act
  • Hands-on warehouse and logistics management approach
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Effective communication and professional business conduct
  • Negotiation skills and ability to resolve conflicts professionally
  • Business acumen and knowledge of current warehouse/logistics trends
  • Computer literate
