Position Overview

The Financial Assistant is responsible for general ledger analysis, account reconciliation, and financial reporting for the assigned portfolio. This role supports client accountants, manages tenant accounts, prepares monthly financial statements, and ensures accuracy and timeliness in all accounting functions.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Analyse and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Support the client accountant in contractually agreed reports as per Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Prepare and control bank reconciliations
  • Manage Debtors Administration and Credit Control of listed tenants
  • Issue monthly tenant statements and invoices
  • Prepare Operational Financial Statements including journals, schedules, and monthly accounts
  • Process and review data changes on Harborflex
  • Assist with ad-hoc reporting requests

Problem Solving & Communication

  • Research, track, and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Maintain effective communication with other departments and management
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings

Administrative Duties

  • Ensure work area is clean, secure, and well maintained
  • Complete special projects and assigned tasks efficiently

Performance Measurements

  • Accounting documents and reports are accurate, current, and timely
  • Discrepancies and errors are promptly resolved
  • Effective communication and coordination with colleagues
  • Accounting functions completed in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures
  • Management is regularly informed of financial and operational updates

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education/Certification: Bookkeeping or equivalent coursework; degree preferred
  • Required Knowledge: Basic accounting concepts and procedures, account reconciliation, computer applications
  • Experience Required: Minimum 3 years’ property/accounting experience preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and accurate
  • Strong math skills and numerical accuracy
  • Cooperative and willing to assist others
  • Proficient in using PC, calculators, and basic office equipment
