Position Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ Queenswood store is seeking a dedicated Casual Merchandiser to join the team. This entry-level position is ideal for candidates interested in retail merchandising, stock control, and customer service on a flexible contract basis.
The successful candidate will ensure all merchandise is properly stocked, displayed, and maintained in accordance with Dis-Chem standards while providing excellent in-store customer support.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandising & Stock Control
- Restock shelves to ensure maximum product availability and sales
- Ensure all stock is stored and displayed correctly
- Monitor and remove expired or damaged stock
- Implement FIFO (First-In, First-Out) stock rotation procedures
Store Presentation & Displays
- Maintain neat and visually appealing store shelves and product displays
- Build, stock, and maintain merchandising displays according to planograms
- Ensure correct labelling and pricing at all times
Inventory & Administrative Support
- Assist with stocktaking and inventory counts
- Report low stock, out-of-stock items, and discrepancies to management
- Assist with loading and off-loading deliveries
- Ensure items without barcodes are clearly marked
Customer Service
- Provide friendly and professional assistance to all customers
- Resolve customer stock queries and follow up as required
Compliance & Operations
- Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, and health & safety regulations
- Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times
- Handle merchandise carefully to minimise losses and prevent damage
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
- Up to 6 months retail experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous Skills
- At least 1 year retail experience
- Bilingual communication skills
- Knowledge of FMCG merchandising standards
- Ability to analyse ZMORE or other retail reports
- Knowledge of product categories and store layout
