Position Overview: Merchandiser Job in Richards Bay
Dis-Chem is looking for a Merchandiser to join their Richards Bay store. This role is ideal for candidates seeking entry-level retail jobs, merchandising careers, or FMCG store jobs in South Africa.
You will be responsible for ensuring shelves are fully stocked, visually appealing, and aligned with company merchandising standards, while also delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise to ensure maximum product availability
- Ensure correct storage and placement of stock from the storeroom
- Monitor product expiry dates and maintain quality standards
- Maintain full product ranges on shelves at all times
- Rotate stock using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles
- Report low stock, damaged, or expired items to management
- Assist with stock counts and general stocktaking
- Ensure correct pricing, labels, and shelf displays
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of store displays
- Assist with loading and off-loading of stock
- Provide friendly and professional customer assistance
- Support training of new staff members
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Up to 6 months’ experience in retail or merchandising jobs
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Willingness to work retail hours
Advantageous Experience
- 1+ year experience in retail or FMCG merchandising
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and planograms
- Product and category knowledge
- Ability to analyse stock reports (e.g., ZMORE)
- Bilingual communication skills
