Position Overview
The Teaching Experience Coordinator manages the placement of students for school-based integrated learning across all qualifications. The role involves coordinating partnerships with schools, supporting student placements, onboarding teaching experience supervisors, and overseeing all administrative aspects of teaching experience programs.
This role ensures that students gain valuable practical teaching experience while maintaining strong academic and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
School Partnerships
- Liaise with the Department of Education to establish partnerships and secure permissions
- Review and update memorandums of understanding with schools
- Assess schools for suitability and identify potential placement opportunities
- Schedule and coordinate school visits onsite or telephonically
Student Placement & Support
- Conduct workshops to introduce students to professional codes of conduct and school expectations
- Complete placement trackers and assign students to schools
- Issue placement acknowledgement forms and mentor agreements
- Monitor student progress and make alternative arrangements if necessary
- Manage disciplinary recalls and coordinate corrective measures
Supervisors & Mentors
- Identify, recruit, and onboard teaching experience supervisors
- Conduct training workshops for supervisors
- Assign supervisors based on location and monitor communication with students
- Ensure supervision is effective and ongoing
Administration & Reporting
- Track and verify that students are assessed and submitting required documentation
- Contact students not complying with submissions and implement corrective actions
- Compile and submit reports on student placements and progress
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
- Minimum: NQF Level 7 – Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- Advantageous: NQF Level 8 – Honours Degree in Education
Experience:
- 5 years teaching training or development process experience
- 1 year teaching coordination experience
Additional Requirements:
- Driver’s license and access to own vehicle
- Strong organisational, administrative, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
