Position Overview
The Silo Operator at VKB Grain in Bela-Bela, Limpopo will perform tasks related to grain quality control, storage, and processing while ensuring compliance with safety standards. The role includes monitoring grain flow, assisting with fumigation, and supporting daily silo operations under the supervision of management.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the continuous flow of grain and ensure quality control during storage and processing
- Ensure correct stacking of Simba maize and maintain stack cards
- Protect grain through fumigation as directed by supervisors
- Monitor grain tube temperatures and report deviations
- Measure grain tubes according to policy and safety regulations
- Assist with monthly food safety inspections and general silo tasks
- Operate the silo in compliance with VKB Group policies and regulations
- Perform ad-hoc tasks and general work as requested by management
- Ensure safety compliance at all times
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 qualification
- Certificate in grain grading and fumigation advantageous
- Valid driver’s license for tractor/front-end loader advantageous
- Willingness to work overtime and shifts
- Clear criminal record
- Experience in a similar environment advantageous
