Position Overview

The Supervisor will report to the FFO Superintendent and is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the production plant in the Fresh Fish Operations Department. The role focuses on maximizing plant performance, achieving production targets, and maintaining customer satisfaction while adhering to safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

Guide, Direct, and Oversee Teams

  • Monitor and manage absenteeism, arrange counselling, and coordinate clinic referrals.
  • Ensure staff competencies and plan skills development with WPTs.
  • Conduct disciplinary actions, complete incident reports, and follow up on inquiries.
  • Counsel staff on poor performance.

Manage Production Output

  • Monitor yield and labour efficiency to meet production deadlines.
  • Ensure products are produced according to specifications.
  • Manage downtime and line performance.
  • Ensure FIFO and traceability practices are followed.

Maintain Good Housekeeping and Workplace Safety

  • Oversee employee health and safety.
  • Maintain hygiene and housekeeping standards.
  • Arrange corrective training for product non-conformance.
  • Monitor staff workplace hygiene and ensure products meet specifications.

Ensure Efficient and Effective Operations

  • Identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain systems and practices for a safe, innovative, and continuous learning culture.
  • Manage production improvement processes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
  • Relevant NQF Level 6 certificate of competency (preferred).
  • 5–10 years of relevant production experience.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, processing and production processes, and health and safety procedures.
  • Strong IT literacy.
