Position Overview
Emeris Nelson Mandela Bay Campus is seeking a Part-Time Lecturer (Sessional Lecturer) in the Faculty of Management Studies, specifically for the Accounting module.
This role is ideal for professionals with both academic and practical accounting experience who want to contribute to higher education lecturing jobs in South Africa, part-time university teaching roles, and finance lecturing opportunities in the Eastern Cape.
The lecturer will deliver face-to-face classes and support students in mastering financial accounting principles at Bachelor of Commerce level.
Key Performance Areas
Teaching & Learning Delivery
- Prepare and deliver Accounting lectures aligned with module requirements
- Facilitate active learning and student engagement
- Follow module pacers and academic guidelines
Student Support & Assessment
- Provide feedback via the learning management system
- Prepare students for formative and summative assessments
- Identify at-risk students and support academic improvement
- Monitor student engagement and performance
Academic Administration
- Update learning management systems accurately
- Attend academic meetings and workshops
- Participate in academic development programmes
- Contribute to continuous teaching improvement initiatives
Minimum Requirements
Qualification Requirements
Ideal:
- Honours / Postgraduate qualification in Financial Accounting
Alternatively:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business-related field
- Financial Accounting up to 3rd-year level
- Plus postgraduate qualification (Business / Education / MBA)
Experience Requirements
- Lecturing experience in Financial Accounting (preferred)
- Professional experience as an accountant or financial manager

- Strong knowledge of Financial Accounting principles
- Ability to explain complex concepts clearly
- Strong classroom engagement and facilitation skills
- Good communication (written and verbal)
- Ability to identify and support struggling students
- Strong organisational and time management skills

Working Conditions
- Independent Contractor (Part-Time) role
- Module: Accounting (BCom students)
- Face-to-face lectures on campus
- Lecture times: 08:20 – 16:45 (weekdays only)
- One module vacancy only
