Job Overview
Cashbuild is seeking a System Supervisor to manage and supervise all Point of Sale (POS) transactions, cash office operations, and banking processes. The role ensures efficient cash handling, accurate reporting, and excellent customer service while maintaining strict operational control.
Key Responsibilities
POS and Customer Service
- Supervise all POS transactions to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient customer service
- Assist customers with queries, complaints, and escalations
- Ensure correct use of speed point (card) transactions
- Control availability of stationery and consumables in-store
Cash Handling and Banking
- Manage store floats, petty cash, till floats, and change floats
- Process cash-ups for cashiers and back office tills
- Handle bulk deposits, special deposits, returns, and loyalty transactions
- Ensure correct recording of petty cash vouchers and expenses
- Perform daily POS end-of-day balancing and cash reconciliation
- Ensure cash-in-transit (CIT) procedures are followed correctly
- Manage cash clearance and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Ensure accurate and timely cash pickups
Store Operations and Compliance
- Ensure Ready for Business standards are consistently implemented
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cash office
- Ensure all documentation is properly filed and up to date
- Enforce POS and cash handling policies and procedures
People Management
- Supervise and schedule cashiers and POS staff
- Ensure adequate staff coverage at all times
- Monitor performance and provide feedback
- Ensure staff adhere to dress code and company standards
- Provide product knowledge training where required
- Ensure staff follow Ready for Business and operational checklists
Security and Safety
- Ensure cash office security and controlled access at all times
- Maintain password security and system integrity
- Ensure only authorised personnel access cash office and safe
- Oversee CIT collections and ensure compliance procedures are followed
- Report suspicious activities or security concerns immediately
- Ensure adherence to OHSA safety standards
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- 5 years relevant experience OR 10 years retail/cash handling experience
- Previous cashier or cash office experience essential
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Computer literate
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge of POS systems and retail operations
