Position Overview
The Casual Frontshop Assistant role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about retail, customer service, and stock control. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining store merchandising standards, ensuring proper stock rotation, and supporting daily frontshop operations.
This role plays a key part in ensuring that customers experience a well-organised, fully stocked, and professional retail environment at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise to ensure maximum sales and product availability
- Ensure stock from deliveries or storeroom is correctly packed and stored
- Maintain FIFO (First-In-First-Out) stock rotation principles
- Ensure shelves are fully stocked, neat, and correctly labelled
- Monitor and report expired, damaged, or low-stock items
- Assist with cycle counts and stocktaking processes
- Maintain clean and organised storerooms and work areas
- Build and maintain merchandising displays according to store standards
- Assist customers with friendly and professional service
- Handle customer queries and escalate issues when necessary
- Assist with loading and off-loading of stock
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and store policies
- Support training of new staff members when required
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- 0–6 months retail experience (advantageous)
- 1 year retail experience (advantageous but not required)
- Basic understanding of stock handling and merchandising
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
